PAX Terminals

Explore PAX countertop card terminals and compatible payment configurations with Mansfield Payments, from counter layout to activation planning.

Choose the payment device that fits the counter

A payment terminal should feel like a natural part of checkout. We deploy PAX terminals and help you choose a configuration around where staff work, where the customer pays and which processing account will run the transactions.

Countertop acceptance and connected options

PAX offers countertop terminals, PIN pads and handheld devices. The A80 is one countertop example with chip and contactless acceptance, a touchscreen and a built-in receipt printer. Connection options vary by configuration. We will confirm the current model and payment application appropriate for your account.

Some businesses need a self-contained terminal beside an existing register. Others need a customer-facing device linked to their POS. Those are different installations, even when both use PAX equipment.

Review the checkout experience, not just the specifications

  • Can customers reach the device without the cashier turning the whole station?
  • Does the payment amount come from the POS or get entered separately?
  • Where should receipts print, and what records do staff need at close?
  • Is there a network connection at the counter, and who manages it?

If you need tips, particular receipt options or another application feature, include that in the initial conversation. Hardware capability, software support and processor approval all need to line up.

Plan compatibility before buying or reusing equipment

An existing PAX device is not automatically ready for a different processor or POS. Give us the model, current application and system it connects to so we can review the proposed use. That is especially important with equipment purchased separately or left by a previous owner.

Before activation, the plan should cover connection, staff access, a test transaction and refund, and the steps for closing the day. If you also want inventory or order management, we can compare a complete POS setup with a terminal-only approach.

Questions to help you choose

Does a PAX terminal replace a complete POS?

A payment terminal’s main role is taking payments. Broader business functions depend on the installed software and integrations. Start with the tasks you want to manage, then choose the equipment.

Will every PAX model work with my processor?

No. We must confirm model and application compatibility for the proposed processing account before recommending or activating a device.
